What is Culebra Codex

The library the reptile world never had.

A single, trustworthy, beautifully-made knowledge base for everything about keeping reptiles — free to read, built by people who actually keep them.

The reptile hobby's knowledge is scattered across forum posts from 2009, contradictory care sheets, and YouTube comments. Some of it is gold. A lot of it is wrong, and it's nearly impossible to tell which is which. Animals pay for that.

Culebra Codex exists to fix that — to be the Wikipedia of the reptile world: one place, openly readable, where husbandry, breeding, genetics, behavior, veterinary basics, conservation law, and field work are written down clearly and held to a standard. The core library is free, and it always will be.

How it's organized

Everything is filed under the fourteen disciplines of the Citadel Culebra curriculum — from Husbandry and Genetics to Venomous Handling and Field Conservation. Each entry is tagged by discipline and difficulty so a first-week keeper and a working breeder can both find their level.

Free, premium, and the app

Most of the library is free. The deepest material — full volumes, structured courses, and the most involved guides — is premium, available either à la carte or with a single membership. Every premium piece opens with a real free preview, so you always know what you're unlocking.

Behind the library sits the Codex app — the reader and study environment where the content comes alive: annotate at the passage level, build flashcards, take graded courses, earn certificates, and have all of it sync to the actual animals in your collection.

Inside the app

Cinematic reader

Long-form reading designed for focus — drop-caps, callouts, and a typographic system built for study, not skimming.

Notes & highlights

Annotate any passage. Your notes attach to the species and the animal they're about, surfacing in Cerebro.

Courses & flashcards

Structured, instructor-led tracks with graded exams, certificates, and spaced-repetition decks.

Your collection, synced

Codex is the knowledge half of Cerebro — what you learn lands on the animals you keep.

Part of something bigger

Codex is one of three Culebra products. Cerebro manages your living collection and records. The Exchange is where animals and supplies change hands — every listing carrying its Codex care guide. Codex is where the knowledge lives. Together they're the operating system for serious keeping.
